Bar are used as a bridal bedcover and typically consist of three strips joined together, whereas berda-yeh are much bigger and more colourful and are made from between six snd nine polychrome panels. They are used during the wedding celebrations as a decoration behind the married couple and subsequently serve as a screen to separate the couple's sleeping quarters within the home (or tent). Their final use is as a cover for the coffin of a family member, after which the local imam is empowered to sell them and use the funds appropriately. =
|a Imagen de la Portada: Kilim "berda-yeh" utilizado como biombo nupcial, procedente de Afreen (Siria) y datado a principios del siglo XX. Mientras que las piezas destinadas a cubrir el lecho nupcial suelen constar de tres franjas unidas, los "berda-yeh" son mucho más grandes y coloridos, y están compuestos por entre seis y nueve paneles policromados. Se utilizan durante las celebraciones de la boda como elemento decorativo situado tras los recién casados y, posteriormente, sirven como biombo para separar la zona de descanso de la pareja dentro de la vivienda (o tienda). Finalmente, se emplean para cubrir el féretro de algún miembro de la familia; tras ello, el imán de la localidad queda facultado para venderlos y destinar los fondos recaudados a los fines adecuados.
