505 |t Imagen de la portada:  |g Spurinna and Calpurnia Halt Caesar's Triumph. Detail of the fourth tapestry in the four-part suite. The Deeds of Caesar. Tournai, ca.1465-70. Wool and silk, 4.32 x 7.50m. To the left of the scene (just out of view in this detail) the triumphant figure of Julius Caesar, every inch an emperor in his bearing, garb and accoutrements, is borne along on a throne inside an ornamental palanquin, his approach heralded by trumpeters. Rushing toward the procession with arms upraised in horror and warning are the soothsayer Spurinna, who calls out to Caesar to "Beware the Ides of March", and Caesar's wife Calpurnia, who has been warned in a dream of impending danger. The right side of the tapestry (not shown) depicts the moment when the conspirators draw their daggers to assassinate Caesar. Anxiety is clear visible in his face and the drama is heightened by the faces of onlookers peering through windows in nearby buildings, The series of four tapestries of The Deeds of Caesar were probably commissioned by Count Guillaume de la Baume, a member of the immediate circle of the Dukes of Burgundy.
