|g The Boehringer çintamani prayer rug. Selendi (?), west Anatolia, radiocarbon tested by ETH Zurich to mid 15th-mid 17th century (1455-1647AD). 1.22 x 1.78m. Wool pile on a wool foundation, 2 weft shoots between rows of symmetric knots. The prayer rug belongs to a small self-contained group of which thirteen examples, including fragments, are known, mostly preserved in the churches and museums of Transylvania. Its size and format are typical, but it differs in two ways from most other known examples of the group: the lateral division of the field to from a large central area and two smaller side panels, and the rhomboid-like angles of the base of the niche.
