- The star collection / Opening at the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg on 6 May, the first public exhibition of Heinrich and Waltraut Kirchheim's great Orient Stars Collection, wich spans seven centuries of carpet art and contains some of the most extraodinary early carpets.

- Imagen de la portada: Anatolian village "small pattern Holbein" rug, late 15th century. 1.14 x 1.58m. One of the most interesting and beautiful Anatolian rugs in the great Berlin collection, its survival through the war is a cause for much rejoicing, it is one of the first early Turkish village rugs to have made its way into Western museum. The main border is found in almost identical form on the large pattern Holbein carpet depicted in the famous painting of The Mass of Saint Giles by an unknown Franco-Flemish master of about 1500, now in the National Gallery, London.

Es una de las alfombras anatolias más interesantes y hermosas de la gran colección de Berlín; su supervivencia a la guerra es motivo de gran satisfacción, pues se trata de una de las primeras alfombras de aldea turcas que llegó a formar parte de las colecciones de museos occidentales. La cenefa principal aparece de forma casi idéntica en la alfombra de diseño "Holbein de motivo grande" representada en el famoso cuadro "La misa de San Gil", obra de un maestro franco-flamenco anónimo del 1500 que se conserva actualmente en la National Gallery de Londres.
